Border-Roses

Since 2021 the association „East meets West“ supports the manufacturing of steel-made border-roses and sculptures of the artist Thomas Rother, living in the city of Essen. According to the drafts of Thomas Rother, the border-roses will be placed at different borders of Germany, as a symbol of peace and international understanding.
Additionally to the already realized border-roses at the Germany-Luxembourg-Belgium border and the Poland-Germany border, five more steel-made border-roses will be placed in Forst (Lausitz) and in the so called „double-city“ Guben/Gubin, at both sides of the border Poland/Germany.
One more border-rose-sculpture will be placed at the coal-mine Altstaden (in the city of Oberhausen, the home of „East mets West“). Furthermore, Thomas Rother will produce some small versions of „Border-Roses“ for „East meets West“, as gifts for its partners.
